I signed up for jazz classes about 4 years ago when a friend recommended them and I am so glad I did! I seriously have no idea what the first lady was talking about, i've never heard either of the teachers shout (except when counting time over the music) I loved taking part in the show, so much in fact that i also signed up for tap lessons! I still go there too, and continue to enjoy myself :)
In responce to the lady saying terrible teachers, What we have to remember is ballet is very precise and if they did not correct your child when they were doing wrong how would they learn. My daughter loves doing it all and when she is taught properly and can therefore learn it builds confidence! My daughter has attended judith hockadays too but this is far superior the show is fab and throughly worth the few quid for practice lessons (only what youd pay for brownies etc equivilent) You need to contribute to the costumes but look how fantastic they are! As for being forced to buy the dvd.....what rubbish i wanted one and had to ask myself for a form to order one. This is the best and most talented dance school in swindon
My 4 year old daughter has been going to Sullivans for a year after moving form another school and have to say I have found the teachers nothing but great, helpful and very pro-active in encourraging the children to learn. Yes they are strict but ballet is about discipline as well as the dancing. She is starting tap this term too with the same teacher and I have nothing but praise for them. She did the show this year and it was amazing.
The teachers at this dance school should'nt be allowed to teach and I would strongly suggest they attend an anger management program. The children are constantly screamed at/ humiliated and reduced to tears infront of the other pupils. Every couple of years they put a show on at the Wyvern Theatre which is a complete rip off for the parents. Basically you are expected to pay for extra practises, all the costumes that your child will need while the school pockets all the money from ticket sales and the £20 Dvd they practically force you to buy!
