Unit 20 Caen View,
They kept calling and calling back asking questions about our age and then about the grant we were 'entitled' to. They must be very desperate to adopt these sorts of tactics.
... add to my previous review - when the workmen came they were quick clean pleasant, job was done with minimum of fuss. If you can book it, and they come, and you don't need to communicate with the office for any reason then the company is fine.
Surveyor came very efficient said warm space would contact me to make an appointment - they never did. Tried phoning them usually you spend a long time in the queue which ends with an answer machine where you must give your details and they will call you back (there is also a form on their web page for this). Sometimes they call back after a few days sometimes not at all. Eventually made an appointment - stayed at home all day - they never pitched up, no explanation no call. Went through the pain of contacting them again (why oh why did I persist?) and got another date. This time they called me back before the date asking if they could come "while they were in the area" another day - and then stood me up - again no call no explanation! Eventually called and managed to speak to a senior manager Chris Barkley who was not overly sympathetic or apologetic ..... still waiting!!!!
I had no problem with this company at all.Good survey (ex installer Nick I ) polite bookings clerand speedy and tidy crew.Have warm house now and saving a small fortune!
i had warm space round to insulate my detached house after applying on line through uk home insulation and the guys did a good job on both the walls and the loft...i think with any company you can have lesser mortals working for them..just make sure you ask for there top crew i did and it worked!
Having read the previous reviews, I almost cancelled my order for CWI and Loft insulation in my bungalow. However I am glad I did not. The men (3 of them) arrived this morning (15 minutes early) and were polite and efficient in the work they did. The drill hole cavities were filled with almost matching mortar (not neat sand), and they swept up after they had finished, and had made a final inspection. As they could not drill through my neighbour’s adjoining garage wall, I asked them to fill the bedroom cavity from inside, which they did very carefully, leaving a dimple in the mortar so that when dry I could finish off with some fine filler (Polyfilla) and touch up with paint. The same was done inside my conservatory. They also filled the gable ends as standard practice. The loft insulation was not yellow as I had expected but a rather dull grey/brown colour. Apparently it is still fibre glass, but made from recycled glass bottles in accordance with current “Green” policy. Care was taken to leave clearance around my spot lights, which I left switched on so they could be seen while work was done in the loft. They were here for 4 hours in total. I can only speak from my own experience, and perhaps it is easier working on a bungalow than a house, or maybe the early morning cup of tea I made them could have helped! However, all in all I must say that I cannot fault the work they did, I would certainly use this company again should I move, and I now look forward to a warmer drier home.
they filled the hole they drilled in my wall with neat sand, i involved my local mp due to the fact that if it had been an elderly person unable to get out the house they would never know and this is being paid for by tax payers monies in the form of grants. i wrote to mp and the goverment body that regulates the goverment grants and my power supplier and the chief exec of warm space, i had replys from every one apart from chief exec of warm space who just treated my letter with contempt and did not answer. so now i know where the superviser fitter who filled the holes in my wall with neat sand after drill them and walked away laugh at having got one over on me gets his example from, his chief exec officer who has the same atitude. My mp and the governing body did agree with me that its was bad workmanship and did take it further. so do your self a favour people look elsewhere for your cavity wall and loft insulation if you want a good job done.
Since having our walls insulated by these people we have had four double glazing window seals broken, any one else had this problem? Also loads of beads escaping from the air vents!
I had these guys insert CWI in my home a couple of days ago. Like Wilson's mother, I also have a lean to conservatory but I allowed them to inject the cavity from inside the house.Okay, it did make more mess and there are now some holes to patch and walls to redecorate but it would not have been practical to bother erecting scaffolding. These men are only allowed 2 hours to insulate a detached house and still took 2.5 hours to do mine. I am not able to confirm total satisfaction but I do feel they could have been more conscientious if the company allowed them more time for each job. In some areas of wall the holes are so far appart that I'd be very surprised if all of the cavities are filled. I ordered my work from them in early August, heard nothing until Mon 24 Nov, when phoned advising me they would come at 9am the next day. More notice would have been nice but I didn't want to wait any longer, so I let them come dispite much inconvenience to myself. I was very impressed when they actually turned up at the stated time though but I was rather disapointed when they refused to do the gable ends of my house, which I feel sure I was quoted for. They advised they only do the walls where there are occupied rooms! Time will tell but I doubt if other companies would be that much better so I guess I would be prepared to use them again.
these people should have insulated 4 walls of my mum's (age 86) detached house. There is a lean-to one one wall and they are too tight to use toweres or scaffolding to insulate the 4th wall. This has been going on since May 2008, and still no satisfaction. So much for the government grant schemes to help pensioners.
