• Very very very poor!!

  We have used Ashoka in Market place, chippenham, on several occasions within the last 6-8 months, both as a takeaway and a restaurant.Whilst the food is of a good quality, the level of service is a very long way from what you would expect from any establishment . Every single time something in the order has been wrong. Even when they eventually give the 'correct' items they are still wrong!!When this was brought up at my last visit with the manager, my partner was told "you are only one customer out of a thousand per week" - not a good customer service attitude me thinks.When eating in the restaurant we sat for almost an hour between finishing our starters and the main course being brought out.Appalling service. One of the staff members fronted out my partner when he brought this up to him, and was more interested in the other customers not hearing the complaint than he was actually fixing ours.

• good food, but not much else

  Went for lunch to mark a nice occasion, but wasn't too impressed.We were the only customers, yet service was lousy and below par. Communication with the waiting staff was hard and the fixed-price lunch deal a bit vague.However, the menu is extensive, well laid out and easy to understand. The food was great - we didn't have a single item that was not up to standard. The chicken Biryani was impressive!Very conveniently located with lots of window tables make this an interesting place to eat at lunchtime.Bizarrely, the staff turned several customers away and said they were 'closing early' that day... We didn't mind, and had a good time!
